Coffetoday Nov 11 , 2010 - From the name, many people think Tokio Hotel is coming from Tokyo, Japan. In fact, the band comprising the twins Bill Kaulitz (vocal), Tom Kaulitz (guitarist), Georg Listing (drummer) and Gustav Schafer (bass) is from Germany. Devilish (their original band name) had started the career with a gig at small concerts in German. Until they met Peter Hoffman, a music producer, in a talent search event (2003). By Peter, their band’s name changed to Tokio Hotel . Tokio is a term of Germans to Tokyo (the city that they like), while the Hotel was used because they spend more time in hotels while on tour.

With this new name, Peter changed the flow of their music into the pop-rock. Many songs on their first album, Schrei (2005), created also by Peter. They got award as Best Newcomer and the Super Comet at Comet Awards (Germany). Since those awards, others followed one by one, such as Best Newcomer at the Eins Live Krone (Germany Radio Awards), Best Pop National Act for the Bambi Awards (Germany), and Best Single, Best Pop, and Rock Band 2005 at the Golden Penguin (Austria) . The following year, they add to the success with getting about 19 awards in several European states.

The next album, Zimmer 483 (February 2007) and Scream (June 2007) jumped to 1.5 million copies and made them the Best Interact MTV Europe Music Awards (2007). After the second single released in America, Scream America, they were awarded the MTV Music Awards U.S. as the Best New Artist (2008). If other bands chose a short break with the success already achieved, not so with Tokio Hotel. In the beginning of year 2008 their record label, Universal Music, announced that Tokio Hotel will make 1000 Hotels European Tour.

Then in August 2008, they also release a new album, Humanoid (2009), which was released in two countries with two languages, German and English. Starting last until 1 September 2010, Tokio Hotel already pocketed 90 awards. The last awards they receive is Rockbjornen Award (Sweden) for the category Concert Of The Year.
